How do I become involved?

  • If you are here to contribute, please do the following before contributing so that your content can be best used to make the Monster Trainer game:
  1. Familiarize yourself with the General Game, and explore around the Wiki at your leisure.
  2. Choose a team to join and choose a skill and position you would like to fulfill.
  3. Contact Director forest dweller / WikiSysop and Lead Designer Matthew David Crumb Aka. CrumbTheGamer. See their User Pages for contact information regarding joining the Monster Trainer team. If there is a position open and you are qualified, you will be able to join the team immediately. (See here for more information.)

How do I contribute/edit/add to the wiki and game?

  • Before you start:
  1. Register at the GMT Wiki.
  2. Investigate and use the Tags you will need.
  3. Visit this page and the Work Requests page to see what needs to be worked on (in addition to any means your team leader creates work).

  • Afterwords, follow this cycle for as long as you like:
  1. Using any wiki tool or tool provided by the team to edit the articles/images/categories/templates (collectively "pages") that is part of your work request or task.
    • At the top of each page is a "edit" tab for writing each page.
    • At the top of each page is a "move" tab for moving a page to a new name/location.
  2. Review wiki pages and make any minor changes like spelling and grammar as you see fit.
  3. If needed, add any Tags on the top of a page.
  4. If you see any major changes needed or see the need for a new tag on a page not part of your work request, please list them on the discussion page of the respective page and contact any persons who are responsible for that page.
    • At the top of each page is a "discussion" tab for listing these suggested changes, and a "history" tab to see the persons who are maintaining the page.
  5. Repeat the above steps as you are working on contributions to the game.

  • Team leader responsibilities and tasks:
  1. Be in charge of your areas of the wiki.
    • Ensure all articles, images, templates and categories contain the teams current ideas and design decisions.
  2. Assist in the creation and/or approval of any new content that falls in your domain of the game.
  3. Assist in the creation and maintenance of Work Requests.

For Wiki-Beginners

If you are here to contribute, but don't know much about wikis, view our Wiki-Beginner pages:

  • How to write for wiki covers basic syntax, and covers some of the useful indenting and document writing tools that you have for use on the Wiki.
  • Our guides for writing Wiki is currently under construction, but you should also check it out to see we what we have available to you their to help you on things not covered in How to write for wiki.

Work Requests

When game design, production, or maintenance tasks need to be worked on: Work Requests are produced to detail the steps that need to be taken to accomplish them. Once you have become familiar with all the tasks in the Work Request and talked to your group leader, Work Requests should be done to help progress the games development as best as possible.

The Work Requests page is maintained by the group leaders, and it is best to check the Work Requests page to see if there is any work requested for your team. If you think you can take care of one of the requests, please contact your group leader to claim the Work Request.

Additionally, please make sure you are watching the pages that are required of your group. Make sure you're watching the WikiSysOp user, as well as your Team Captain user. The team captains are listed next to each group, so make sure to watch their page for any significant changes in that area. To watch a page, just go to the page you want to watch, and click the little +Watch tab at the top.
